In these works Nereim continues to mine surrealist strategies
through thoughtful manipulation of both physical and linguistic
material. Every object is treated with a poetic sensitivity that
allows the works to shift between meanings and across dimensions.
In particular, she is interested in the representation of temporality.
Everything is keeping time. Through her interpretations of art historical
tropes, astronomical modeling, and her own dreams, she offers something
dynamic, otherworldly and unstable, and always a clock. By directly
engaging a shifting physical perception of three-dimensional form in
the round, the phases of the moon, or the visible deterioration of
seasonal fruit, her works simultaneously document the passage of
real and allegorical time.
