As summer begins to end I have finally finished two new prints, Summer Fruit

and Winter Fruit, both available at my Etsy shop starting today! Summer Fruit

features mostly stone fruits and berries while Winter Fruit (made first) showcases

citrus varieties, pomegranates, and pears.

"The First Show will include a selection of paintings and sculptures all arrived at

through the examination of classification, form, and subsequently, reception.

The works address the ways in which material, shape, or subject affect visual

understanding. Rather than accepting prescribed or hierarchical associations,

Nereim, Owens, Talley, and Tippit, respectively, disrupt and re-format in an

effort to askew formal convention. By actively adjusting the relationships

between size and proportion, surface and depth, language and image, or problem

and solution they are able to interfere with the standards of meaning creation.

I am participating in a raffle fundraiser for Red Cross Japan relief efforts organized

by Lynn Russell from Satsuma Press. In 48 hours, fifty independent artists and

studios have agreed to donate prizes for the raffle – and that list is still growing.

100% of the proceeds from the HEARTS + HANDS raffle will be donated to relief

efforts in Japan in the aftermath of the March 11th earthquake and tsunami.
